Ceralsio ceramic surfaces have all the qualities needed to meet the practical demands of the modern, contemporary kitchen, while the choice of styles available ensures that they can be chosen to visually blend seamlessly into homes steeped in a historical character too. That was very much the case for one client who fell in love with Ceralsio for the redesign of the kitchen in their late Victorian terraced house in London.
Planning for the renovations were a long time in the making, with the couple living in the property for 20 years before finally being in a position to put their own stamp on it, renovating the building that dates back to 1905 and transforming it into a beautiful home filled with space and light. A key element of the entirety of the project was the new contemporary kitchen, which the owners were keen to update while ensuring the sense of history was preserved.
As one of the most visible aspects of the space, choosing the right kitchen worktops was a crucial part of the overall design brief to maximise space and light. With the owners being keen cooks and eager to use the finished room to entertain at home, practical qualities such as durability also needed to be carefully considered.
As well as a table for more formal dining occasions, the finished room also features a large island with integrated sink and a substantial surface for food preparation. A focal point of the room, Ceralsio Pietra Grey was the ideal choice for this area. Tapping into the trend for grey in the kitchen, with a shade that is versatile, elegant and timeless, Pietra Grey also reflects all the natural beauty found in marble, ensuring the island is a stand-out feature visually and practically. The subtle white veining of the ceramic stands out from the grey while matching the remainder of the kitchen furniture and perfectly blends classic styling with contemporary functions.
As a contrast, Ceralsio Carrara Vagli was chosen for the splashback on the back wall and the other worktops. Again replicating all the natural beauty of marble with its delicate veining, Carrara Vagli adds wow factor to the room and serves to tie the whole look harmoniously together. The subtle gold fleck running through the surface is mirrored in the finish chosen for the hot water tap.
“The Ceralsio ceramic worksurfaces were key elements in elevating the design and creating the sense of luxury we were looking for in our new kitchen,” the homeowner commented. “By choosing a marble-effect surface we were able to tap into a major design trend which makes the kitchen feel very contemporary and luxurious, yet not out of place with the property and its history as a whole.”
“We couldn’t be more delighted with our elegant, spacious and contemporary kitchen. During lockdown it has served us as kitchen, office, classroom and playroom, which really tested the versatility and durability of the surfaces.”
