As our kitchens increasingly become the hub of family life, CRL Quartz provides the perfect surface solution, whether the space is being used for work, rest or play. In this article we take a look at the Messina Quartz.

Introducing Messina Quartz

Practical, highly durable and stylistically on point, Messina was the natural choice for this recent kitchen extension, as part of extensive whole-house renovations.

With the goal of creating a large, open-plan family space with a sizeable island at its centre, designers at furniture by Boyd chose CRL Quartz for the worktops. The marble-inspired surface helps to create a timeless look, combining effortlessly with the parquet oak floor and bespoke wood painted furniture.

With a beautiful polished finish, CRL Messina Quartz can be chosen in either a 20mm or 30mm thickness and taps into the trend for natural materials such as marble in the home, with none of the maintenance issues. Creating an elegant, luxurious look that will never date, Messina works brilliantly combined with wood and brushed brass taps and hardware, for a homely Great British Bake Off inspired look.

In a space that makes the most of the outside as well as its interior Messina helps to bring nature indoors too, with its soft white base reflecting light and adding brightness to the room, lifting the dark furniture of the island itself.

In a busy family kitchen, Messina can be almost effortlessly wiped clean of spillages and scuffs and, unlike real marble, never needs to be sealed to keep it water, scratch and stain resistant.

The finished room is the ideal space for all the family to enjoy in comfort. Storage including a wall of tall cupboards, larder and impressive butler cupboard with bi-fold doors ensure the room is streamlined and clutter-free, while the large island unit, painted in a contrasting colour sit centre-stage and can be used for food preparation, dining and even home working. Supplied in a large slab format, the quartz worktop is seam-free.

The extension, which spans the entire back of the property, features bi-fold glass doors opening on to the rear garden, filling the room with natural light and ensuring the space can be enjoyed year-round, whatever the weather.
