The subtle, marble- inspired patterning of CRL Quartz Verona makes it the perfect contrast to dark blue furniture in a cottage-style property that has undergone a major redesign to reflect the personality of its new owners.
Set in the heart of the New Forest, the property was purchased as a home away from home for a family keen to escape the daily grind of London life at weekends and holidays. The small dark rooms were quickly replaced with a large, open-plan kitchen dining and living area on the ground floor, which makes the most of the countryside views.
While the designers, Chantel Elshout Design Consultancy, were mindful of the importance of sticking to a style that was in keeping with the traditional aspects of the property, modern elements were also incorporated, resulting in an eclectic space that is perfect for relaxing with family and entertaining friends.
The shaker-style furniture in the kitchen, for example, is timelessly classic and topped with a CRL Quartz Verona surface that is extremely versatile. Tapping into the trend for grey tones in the kitchen, Verona creates a striking contrast to the darker cabinetry around it, while combining seamlessly with stainless steel appliances and wood flooring. A subtle pastel shade that works from traditional to contemporary settings, CRL Quartz Verona emulates the true beauty of natural stone, while being extremely easy to care for. More than capable of withstanding the demands of modern living, Verona does not need to be sealed, keeping maintenance to a minimum, yet is scratch, stain and water resistant.
With the property designed with occasional use in mind, the overall look is streamlined and simple, with the worktops playing a key role in its creation. At just 20mm thick, CRL Quartz taps into the trend for slim line surfaces that are easy on the eye, creating an effortlessly minimal look that is all-important in an open-plan space that is always on show.
The result is a modern classic space that combines old and new and is quite at home in its stunning New Forest location.
